Why get a winter gritting contract?
Anand Clarke, Operations Manager, Clearway Gritting, St Albans, Hertfordshire said:
‘We have been receiving lots of phone calls and emails today from local south-eastern businesses that don’t have a winter gritting contractor and are desperate to get the snow cleared and their car park gritted so they can keep working.
Our Clearway Gritting team are working flat out to service as many businesses as possible during this unexpected cold snap. Everyone we have spoken to today seems surprised that given the mild Autumn the temperature has fallen so quickly. Unfortunately, as we experienced with the ‘Beast from the East’ several years ago, we know how unpredictable our weather is, and it is when we least expect heavy snow that we get it.
We always advise our clients to set up a winter gritting contract ahead of the winter months so they are guaranteed Clearway Gritting teams will grit their paths, access road, pavements, and car parks when bad weather hits. Clearing snow and ice and gritting effectively enables our clients’ customers and employees to get to work. We work with a range of different sized businesses across the South East, we service large private businesses including retail parks, industrial parks, hospitals, supermarkets, and universities, but we also work with smaller businesses, so if you need a winter gritter call us now on 01727 851837.’
Heavy snowfall in London and South East England
Arctic weather with temperatures of -15C has hit the UK in the first cold snap of the winter. During the weekend the Met Office issued a yellow snow warning for the 24 hours from 9am Sunday 11th December, and during that period many parts of the South East experienced up to 10cm of snow. Many roads were closed and there was travel disruption on Monday morning. Road users in the south-east were asked by National Highways not to travel unless it was necessary. Stansted and Gatwick Airport also closed their runways on Sunday to clear snow and there were delays on trains. Many schools in Kent, Hertfordshire and Sussex have closed because of the bad weather.
The cold snap is set to continue so organise a winter gritting contract
There are many winter weather warnings in place across the UK for the next week with the risk of ice, sleet, and snow in some areas, including the south-east. Many areas will also experience overnight frosts that make business premises dangerous if left untreated.
According to a spokesperson at the Met Office ‘the outlook for the UK remains cold at least for the next seven days, with the potential for this to continue even longer.’
In Summary…
With our unpredictable weather it is important to organise a winter gritting contract as soon as possible, so your business stays open every day. To put in place the right gritting contract for your business call us now on 01727 851837.
