Temperatures fall below zero in the cold snap
The current cold snap has sent temperatures in the south-east and the rest of England plummeting to below zero and comes immediately after a period of very mild winter weather. It demonstrates how quickly our UK weather can change and should encourage businesses to plan ahead to cover the possibility of snow and ice this winter. It is just a month away from the two year anniversary of the ‘Beast from the East.’ On the 22nd of February 2018 Great Britain and Ireland was affected by a cold wave of winter weather, called the ‘Beast from the East’ by the media, but officially named anticyclone Hartmut. It brought very low temperatures and heavy snowfall to most of the country. We are currently experiencing anticyclone conditions, but cloudless skies mean we don’t have any snow.
